After more than two years in early access, Baldur’s Gate 3 was released in August and September on Windows and PlayStation 5. According to new information from developer Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 will finally be upgraded to a full version for Mac.
Baldur’s Gate 3 full version for Mac coming September 21
Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the most anticipated RPG games of the year, is coming to macOS devices in full version. Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 will release its third major patch on September 21st, with “full support for BG3 on Mac”.
The early access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been playable on Mac since 2020. But with the third major update, players will be able to experience the full story and content for the first time. The developer had previously said that the Mac version would follow Windows and consoles. However, he did not give a specific date until now.
What makes the Mac announcement more interesting is that the game is not yet available on Xbox Series X/S. Similar to other platforms, Xbox gamers are still using the early access version. Larian said the full version for Series X/S will be released this year.
Mac players playing the early access version will be able to pick up where they left off on September 21st. Player save files and character progress will be supported in the full version. Cross-play support will also allow you to port your save from another platform to Mac.
Larian has not announced which models Mac support will be available for now. However, it is thought that models with M1 and M2 processors that support the early access version will support it. Uncertainty continues for older versions with Intel processors.
